Egg-celent

Was it brilliance or insanity that had Amy, Jetta and I cook up a plan to have a giant egg-dying party on this Good Friday?  Consider: 13 kids (more than half of them under the age of 5), just 3 adult supervisors (one of them nursing a baby for half the time), 12 cups of staining dye, 7 dozen hard boiled eggs and countless opportunities for cups to spill, drips to drip and eggs to roll away.  But then, we did have some excited and super happy and creative kids and we're set with egg-salad for the week, so maybe it was a little bit of both brilliance and insanity! :) 

Delia shows off an egg she double dipped.  Not quite as patient or artistic, she was happy to dye all her eggs a light shade of green, which was the cup directly in front of her.

Ella and Jonathan get an egg the exact shade of blue they're looking for.  Just noting how long it's been since I've taken a picture of these two together!

"Say 'Eggs!'"  Most of the group pauses to pose.

 Once the eggs were all dyed, some kids attempted further fanciness in the form of stickers and stencils. 

Amy brought special eggs.  Since she's crafty, she came with eggs that were puffy painted, glitter speckled and rubber-band striped.  And they looked really cool dyed!  The older girls who did these said that we had to eat all the "ugly ones" first!

Which, of course, is the best part of Easter-egg dying-- cracking into those eggs and gobbling up that salty goodness.  I think we went through a couple dozen just sampling the work.  Delia alone ate 3!  All in all, an excellent morning and perfect way to celebrate the start of Spring Break!
